Sofia Municipal Privatisatin Agency (SMPA) is created in 1992 as an administrative body of Sоfia Municipal Council (SMC) for executing Privatisation of Sofia municipal property - companies and real estates in accordance to Transformation and Privatisation of State and Municipal Enterprises Law. In practice this kind of activity is named "small-scale" Privatisation. All sites sold by the Agency are attractive for investors from small-scale and medium-scale business.

SMPA has already signed about  2 500 contracts to the total amount of 210 mln. euros. Basic privatisation methods according to Law of Privatisation and Post-privatisation Control /adopted in 2002/ are: auction and tender. 95% of the transactions are realized after an auction. More than 100 000 persons are connected with the municipal privatization in Sofia – those people are the new owners of societies and separate units and their families.
